This is the front of our hotel, located in the district of San Marco, viewed from their dock on the Grand Canal. (Sorry I couldn't get more of it in the photo, but I couldn't back up any further without getting wet!) As is the case with many of the public buildings in Venice, it was once the home of a wealthy merchant. As hotels go, it is relatively small, but well appointed. The sidewalk deadends at a small canal to the right, so the hotel is secluded and quiet even though close to commercial activity. Its only drawback was it did not have an on-site restaurant, so a short ten-minute walk to the nearest plaza was required. The sitting room is located to the right of the lobby with the bar on the left. The tables and chairs on the outside aren't for guests to casually lounge and enjoy the canal scenes. They are part of the bar. Sit down and the bartender will quickly appear, expecting your order. Then you can casually lounge and enjoy the canal scenes.
